Indicated for the following uses, based on its platelet aggregation inhibitory properties: • Reduction of the risk of mortality in patients with suspected or diagnosed acute myocardial infarction. • Reduction of the risk of morbidity and mortality in patients with a previous myocardial infarction. • Secondary prevention of cerebrovascular accident (CVA). • Reduction of the risk of transient ischemic attacks (TIAs) and cerebrovascular accident (CVA) in patients with TIA. • Reduction of the risk of morbidity and mortality in patients with stable and unstable angina pectoris. • Prevention of thromboembolism after surgery or vascular intervention, e.g., percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA), shunt coronary artery bypass grafting, carotid endarterectomy, arteriovenous shunts. • Prophylaxis of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary thromboembolism after long-term immobilization, for example, after major surgery. • Reduction in the risk of a first myocardial infarction in patients with cardiovascular risk factors such as diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia, hypertension, obesity, smoking, and advanced age.
